Erasmus+: Study Across Europe
Funded by the European Union
Enrolling at an Italian university opens the door to funded exchange semesters, European traineeships, and Erasmus scholarships
What Is Erasmus+?
Erasmus+ is the European Union's flagship education and mobility programme, directly funded by the EU. Students enrolled at European universities can spend one or two funded semesters at partner universities in other European countries, complete paid traineeships at European companies, or apply for fully-funded joint master's degrees known as Erasmus Mundus. The key insight for our audience: an international student enrolled at an Italian university uses Erasmus exactly like a European student — Iranian nationality is not a barrier. In practice, admission to one Italian university becomes your ticket into a network of hundreds of universities across Europe.
Three Erasmus Tracks for You
From a one-semester exchange to a fully-funded joint master's — each is a separate door into Europe
Student Exchange (Mobility)
Spend one or two semesters at another European university — Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands and dozens more — with a monthly grant and no extra tuition. Credits transfer back to your home university.

Erasmus Traineeship
A funded 2–12 month internship at a European company or institution — international work experience and a direct bridge into the European job market, available even up to a year after graduation.
Build a European CV before you graduate
Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters
A joint master's degree run by several European universities with a full scholarship: tuition, living stipend, and travel costs. You study each period in a different country and earn a joint degree.
Apply directly from Iran — no prior admission needed
Why Start from Italy?
Combining the DSU regional scholarship (zero tuition, housing, and an annual stipend) with Erasmus opportunities is effectively the lowest-cost route to experiencing multiple European countries: you study in Italy on full financial support, and from your second year an Erasmus grant funds a semester in another European country — with no extra tuition.

Erasmus Requirements & Key Notes
What Are the Requirements?
- For exchanges and traineeships: enrollment at a European university (e.g. via Italian admission).
- Usually completing your first year of study before the exchange begins.
- A decent GPA and a strong motivation letter for the university's internal selection.
- For Erasmus Mundus: a bachelor's degree plus an English certificate (IELTS or TOEFL).
Honest Notes to Keep in Mind
- The exchange grant is typically around €300–600 per month depending on the destination and does not cover all living costs.
- Exchange spots and Mundus scholarships are competitive; selection is not guaranteed for every applicant.
- Your destination options depend on the Erasmus agreements your home university has signed.
- Amounts and rules are updated annually by the EU; figures on this page are approximate.

Book Free SessionCommon Questions About Erasmus+
Yes. Erasmus eligibility follows your university of enrollment, not your nationality. An Iranian student enrolled at a European university (for example in Italy) applies for exchanges and traineeships exactly like European classmates. For Erasmus Mundus you don't even need to be in Europe — you can apply directly from Iran.
